We are looking for an experienced documentation and content writing leader to help us better create, organize, and manage developer documentation for Firefox.


In this role, you will document technical information related to Firefox; determine, build, and manage documentation sites and repositories that better enable developers to use and build Firefox developer features and tools; and keep updated on documentation needs for new features and product releases. This role requires building an understanding of complex technical  information and being able to synthesize and communicate it clearly and accurately, understand what information developers need and how they can best learn it, work well with engineers, and have a deep understanding of software development tools and practices.


Responsibilities:



  • Write technical documentation and resources for developers, covering topics such as Firefox Devtools, Extensions/Add-ons, product releases, and build process documentation. Manage the development cycle of documentation work.

  • Organize and manage Firefox documentation, from the layout of content on a page to finding its proper place in the entire documentation taxonomy.

  • Own creation and management of content repositories and/or websites for Firefox developer documentation; migrate existing content as needed.

  • Design and organize documentation sets for new product features.

  • Obtain source information from internal project documentation & bugs, and interviews with project engineers and team members.

  • Review documentation wanted bugs; categorize high priority bugs that align to content strategy and recommend for prioritization. Help with bug triage. Write documentation based on bug information. Update documentation bugs (Bugzilla) with status.

  • Help define yearly and quarterly Objectives and Key Results, in alignment with content and product strategy.

  • Identify gaps in current developer product documentation and coordinate with engineering, developer relations, and product marketing to determine priority. Drive inclusion in the roadmap during opportunity reviews.

  • Create sample code, demos, videos and screencasts.

  • Provide input and feedback on content strategy and roadmap.

  • Plan, track, report, and manage document projects with limited supervision. Communicate status to stakeholders.

  • Participate in agile team processes, such as standups, user story creation, and planning sessions. Help define user stories, acceptance criteria, and tasks.

  • Facilitate effective information flow between staff, management, volunteers, and others.
