Position Summary


As the Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for working closely with Software Developers, Business Analysts, and fellow Infrastructure teammates to design, implement, and support application and platform infrastructure. Your goal will be to build and support an agile infrastructure to support existing and new development initiatives for Smart Start.


In this position, you will need excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position requires solid systems administration experience on mid-range enterprise systems using both Windows and Linux operating systems. In addition, we are looking for someone who has experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages with the desire to expand on that knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Design, implement, and support private and public cloud systems

  • Build infrastructure and application monitoring to detect and prevent incidents

  • Collaborate with internal Smart Start development groups as well as internal business groups

  • Collaborate with Development leaders on technical design for custom applications and services

  • Ensure the quality and performance of applications and platforms through monitoring and performance testing

  • Perform troubleshooting to isolate, diagnose, and remedy application or service problems

  • Report on infrastructure and application performance to predict needs for future growth

  • Contribute to continuous system and service improvement through regular reviews

  • Maintain technical knowledge by utilizing provided training tools, attending technical workshops, and reviewing professional publications

  • Ensure business data is backed-up and protected

  • Cross-train and mentor teammates

  • Provide training and documentation for Helpdesk staff to expand Tier1 troubleshooting abilities

  • Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule

  • Any other duties assigned by the manager


Position Requirements



  • 5-7 years of overall Systems Administration experience

  • 1-2 years of Microsoft Azure or AWS related experience

  • Experience with PowerShell is required

  • Technical skills to design, implement, and support Windows and Linux based systems

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to positively interact with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent organization, prioritization, follow-up and time management skills

  • Ability to read and write clear and understandable instructions

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at a time

  • Must be able to work varying hours and travel when required (less than 5%)

  • Must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Must have the ability to lift servers, network, and storage equipment up to 50 lbs
