Named as one of Deloitte’s Fast 50 2015 Companies to Watch, we are rapidly growing. We are looking for a passionate, curios professional to join our Engineering team as a Senior Platform Engineer. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with various team members to execute on the Rubikloud vision, work on solving complex data challenges and contribute to the development of our products.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Implement and test RubiCore, our big data platform that processes large amounts of disparate data sources into a powerful and proprietary retail data model.
- Develop new big data technologies to improve performance, scalability, extensibility, stability, and fault tolerance of our big data platform.
- Work closely with data engineering, data-science engineering and production engineering teams to design, build and deploy stable and scalable big data systems.
- Support and maintain existing production processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure high quality, on-time delivery of solutions under tight deadlines to meet business needs.
- Perform unit testing and participate in code reviews to ensure the code is robust and solid.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Math, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development role.
- 3+ years of experience in building scalable and robust distributed systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Scala and/or Java, knowledge of Python a plus.
- Solid foundation in object-oriented design, data structures, functional design and algorithms.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with schema design, dimensional data modelling, and writing advanced SQL queries.
- Experience in troubleshooting in a production environment.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and building ETL solutions for data processing pipelines a plus.
- Highly motivated, keen sense of ownership, and adaptable in a fast paced environment.
- Detailed oriented and strong analytical skills.
- Proficient oral and written communication skills.
