Senior Full-Stack Web Developer at FortNine (Montréal, QC, Canada)

FortNine is searching for an experienced Full-Stack Web Developer to work on a high-performance e-commerce framework that services millions of users. This position requires knowledge, and experience dealing with large object-oriented frameworks.

As a senior member of the team, it will be your responsibility to write high quality code, observe and adhere to standards, write tests, and document code. You think that the best kind of code to maintain is the code that does not exist: in other words, you will always seek the approach that minimizes complexity, promotes eloquence, and does not sacrifice maintainability; in fact, for you, deleting code is therapeutic. That's our candidate! You have the experience to weigh the benefits of one technology over another; you also have the experience that advocates reservation in the face of the new and the shiny. You can take the vaguest, and the most detailed, instructions and turn them into a feature-rich solution that does not compromise on security, performance, or quality.

Essential qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience developing against large object-oriented codebases and frameworks (e.g., Symfony3, Laravel, etc)

  • Experience working with a team on high traffic Web sites

  • Strong PHP, JavaScript, and CSS skills (true full stack)

  • Expert on a Linux or MacOS command line

  • Very comfortable with git commands, and branching/merging techniques

  • Know how to use Composer dependency manager

  • Understand relational databases and EAV concepts

  • Methodical debugger (using appropriate tools and techniques)

  • Expert software craftsmanship, and attention to detail (coding standards, design, code reviews)

  • Experience writing automated tests, like unit, integration, or acceptance tests

  • Excellent command of English–especially written

Bonus qualifications:

  • Experience with eCommerce

  • Experience with continuous integration (TeamCity, Travis)

  • Have used lodash and jQuery

  • Have used CSS preprocessors like LESS or SASS

  • An eye for design

  • Vagrant provisioning for development

  • Knowledge of CentOS, SSH, Nginx, PHP-FPM, Varnish, Redis

  • You maintain your own dotfiles
