Overview:
Working closely with other technology team members and vendors to design and recommend the technical architecture of application software packages and infrastructure will be your daily business in that role. In addition to that you will do the day to day system management of technical solutions and back end interfaces.
Responsibilities:
Safety first: Work with security engineers to translate the required actions and tasks for operating system security and systems administration and prepare required information for system audits will also be part of your job.
To avoid problems you are going to be monitoring our servers, systems performance and capacities.
Deployments of system software patches, application releases and fixes will happen under your supervison as well as Full-Life-Cycle release management from test and staging environment into production.
Last but not least a big part of your job will be networking. Not just networking in it's common sense with our IS&T colleagues in Europe, but also maintaining eCom related networks and VPN's.
Due to some future projects Cloud Systems could also be part of your job if you want to be part of a huge international project. It's up to you... !
Must Have's
Ideally you are already experienced in being a DevOps Engineer with a solid Linux/Unix knowledge. In addition to that Chef and Puppet are well known to you, nothing to do with cooking or kids toys of course :). The next few tools that would be necessary for this role are docker, rancher or Mesos.
Not to forget: You need to be fluent in English to communicate with our peers across the globe.
Nice to Have's
Bringing more than expected is always nice. So you would be a pro if you are experienced with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL or Couchbase and Message Queues such as ActiveMQ. Also proficient hands-on experience in diagnosting and troubleshooting systems and applications, including performance management and capacity planning are great assets. Last but not least experience with Microsoft Azure would be great. One last thing! German skills are a plus as well.
