Position Overview



Clarus Commerce’s IT team is searching for a Director or Senior Director of Engineering. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will lead the engineering team’s day-to-day efforts and help shape Clarus’s long-term technology strategy. We’re looking for the rare individual who’s technical enough to know a singleton from a SSID (transpiler from a traceroute?), but who won’t disappear into the café to skunkworks the solution; a people person (you’ll work with both the business and tech teams), but not a people person; a two-way interpreter between the very disparate languages of techno-speak and business-jargon that branched early in the linguistics family tree. You will join a highly skilled IT organization utilizing the latest technologies to develop high-traffic websites, web services, mobile applications, business analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities:



  • Lead the Engineering teams in the architecture, support, development, maintenance and day-to-day operation of a multi-tenant digital commerce platform and supporting systems.

  • Oversee the Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and overall development process flow.

  • Work with the PMO team to help prioritize projects through the different engineering teams.

  • Work closely with the different business owners to facilitate technology projects.

  • Work cross functionally with the Infrastructure and Data teams to build, maintain and support the overall IT surface.

  • Establish client-facing relationships with partner’s technology departments to assist the sales, implementation and operations processes.

  • Work with the IT Security & Compliance group to maintain PCI, GDPR and CCPA compliance.

  • Manage 18+ people in several team of highly talented, on- and off-shore developers, engineers, and architects.



Skill and Experience Requirements:



  • BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent.

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise-scale websites with an object-oriented language, preferably C#.

  • 5+ years managing direct technical reports.

  • Experience with Distributed Micro-Service Architecture.

  • Experience with Node.js, JavaScript, JavaScript based frameworks such as React.

  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs.

  • Experience with both relational, preferably MS SQL Server, and NoSQL databases, preferably DynamoDB.

  • Experience with cloud-based computing, AWS preferred.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills and process orientation.
