Android Engineer at Syng (Los Angeles, CA)

Syng is looking for a talented Android engineer with an excellent understanding of how people interact with mobile devices and connected hardware. You’ve built visually rich and interactive apps, going beyond relying on ListViews to construct your UI.  You want to help make a truly great Android application, closely collaborating with the design team and engineering peers. 


The ideal candidate is an engineer with recent successful released native Android apps. You have a firm grounding in Java and have mastered the intricacies of the Android platform and designing great user experiences for all the various Android devices. 


The work will involve:



  • Implement high-level user interfaces.

  • Optimize user experiences.

  • Develop new and innovative features.

  • Fix problems and troubleshoot.

  • Enhance product performance.

  • Closely collaborate with designers and other engineers


Skills and experience wanted:



  • Proficient in Java and the Android SDK

  • Successfully released apps in the Android Market (please include names).

  • Strong object oriented programming and design skills.

  • Strong debugging skills and an understanding of systems.

  • Familiar with common software architecture patterns

  • Excellent understanding of optimization and performance issues across OS software layers.

  • 3+ years work experience as a software engineer.

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

  • Understanding of scalability, systems engineering, and algorithms.

  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent product and design sense

  • Experience working on a team that utilized code reviews, design reviews and usage of known bug tracking, git based source control and CI tools
