Full-Stack Developer at Santa Cruz Bicycles (Salt Lake City, UT)

Santa Cruz Bicycles, Juliana Bicycles, and Cervelo Cycles' SLC-based digital team is hiring a full-stack developer to create new online experiences for customers across our brands. As the next member of our team you will design and build new responsive and accessible experiences in ReactJS and Gatsby, as well as develop strategies and patterns to migrate legacy interfaces to a modern tech stack. While the bulk of new development will be in Javascript, the ability to operate on our existing PHP tech stack is also important.

As we migrate to a headless CMS, we need talented full stack developers who are interested in owning development, from UI to deployment. 

You might be right for this position if you love exploring new technologies and new ways of building for the web, have a passion for design, and a commitment to building sites that are excellent when consumed on a mobile device or with a screen reader. Our highly collaborative team works in an agile scrum framework, and values cross-functional talents and communication skills. You should not only be ready to conceptualize and implement technical solutions to our design requirements, but also to help uplevel the team's abilities through ongoing learning, advocating for best practices, and proposing process improvements.

Overall Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  1. Design and build amazing web experiences for external and internal customers of Santa Cruz Bicycles, Juliana Bicycles, and Cervelo Cycles
  2. Provide domain expertise regarding site and store design
  3. Use professional skills to improve technology throughout the organization 
  4. Be a thoughtful leader and demonstrate hands-on software engineering capability to ensure efficient delivery of quality product
  5. Work with your team to evaluate, scope, and estimate key future state capabilities
  6. Participate in the ideation, technical and architectural development, and launch of key capabilities
  7. Translate user stories into performant, multi-browser compliant, responsive, web experiences
  8. Continuously improve the software, the team, and yourself 

Competencies and Requirements:

  1. A passion for design and bikes
  2. 2+ years of professional software development experience, or relevant training 
  3. Excellent CSS skills including preprocessor frameworks, evaluating trade-offs of different approaches to layout (flexbox, grid, etc), and advocating for best practices within the team
  4. Experience in at least one modern Javascript app framework like React or AngularJS
  5. Ability to design and build for accessibility across browsers and viewports
  6. Familiarity with ecommerce and commerce technologies
  7. An understanding of deployment in AWS is a plus
  8. An eye for design and experience with Sketch, Illustrator, or similar 
  9. Exceptional written and verbal communicator
  10. Adept at ruthless prioritization of competing tasks and schedules
