Systems Engineer I 


The Infrastructure Systems Engineer will provide day-to-day support and management of the development and production infrastructure and applications. This role will directly interact with engineering, development and application support to resolve issues. In addition, this role will deploy tools and processes to enforce standards and improve reliability and efficiency of the environments.


This position requires a self-starter who can take direction, work independently and ask for guidance when needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude, ability to resolve issues and desire to learn new skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Handle system issues and provide troubleshooting and engineering support
  • Implement engineering stakeholder assignments and tasks
  • Work on customer integration and implementation tasks
  • Work on projects to improve and mature the production application infrastructure


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Good troubleshooting and task management skills
  • Ability to collaborate within a close-knit team


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree  
  • 2+ years experience with Linux


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Technology related field
  • CCNE Certification
  • Proficient in at least one Linux scripting language (BASH, PERL, Python)
  • Some exposure to DevOps tools and processes (CI, Jenkins, Ansible)
  • Exposure to or working in a production SAAS or PAAS environment
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Configuring or managing firewalls and switches
    • VMWare on converged infrastructure
    • SAN, NAS and data center infrastructure
    • Centos or RHEL Linux
    • Level 2 and level 3 networking configuration
    • Network troubleshooting skills and TCP/IP concepts
    • VPN and DMVPN
    • DIA, MPLS, SNALN (metro-E) WAN topologies and concepts


Work Conditions:

  • Occasional night and weekend work depending on project and system impact considerations
  • Shared on-call component
