We have an exciting opportunity for a Messaging Engineer in the Atlanta, GA office at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals and staff.
The Messaging Engineer is responsible for performing primary tasks for the MS Exchange messaging system including technical support, problem resolution, evaluation, guidance and recommendations for short and long-term strategies. This position is also responsible for Microsoft server administration to include monitoring server status, troubleshooting issues with client connectivity, response time, server performance, backup/restore, and disaster recovery planning and testing.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide Tier III proactive technical support and problem resolution using trouble ticketing, email, and verbal communication techniques.
- Provide performance evaluation and guidance relative to messaging systems and recommend short and long-term strategies to maintain high performance and uptime.
- Create and update messaging system documentation providing clear instructions for administrative tasks, current design, DR failover and future system improvements.
- Provide management and staff with weekly updates related to tasks, projects, problems, and system configuration.
- Submit requests for system changes in accordance with Eversheds Sutherlands change management policy.
- Monitor messaging related system backup operations. Server tuning and network load balance improvements; perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
- Configure and maintain monitoring system for appropriate alert levels, capacity thresholds and performance thresholds. Take preventive or corrective action to resolve any issues that may arise.
- Provide emergency support on major systems or problems when necessary.
- Maintain an inventory of all messaging related servers, devices and software.
- Work with IT Staff on any and all technology related issues and provide assistance to other offices as required.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of existing computer system from the infrastructure to the desktop with the purpose of finding improvements.
- Identify new technologies that will increase the overall efficiency of our messaging systems.
- Work with firm personnel to determine what their specific needs are and how to best implement technical solutions.
- Evaluate new products and maintain awareness of industry software updates.
- Implement and manage software pilot groups with end-users.
- Perform other technology-related duties as assigned or requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High School Diploma is required; Bachelors degree is preferred
- MCITP:EM MCSE Microsoft Certification preferred
- 3+ year of MS Exchange server administration and support
- 1+ year of mobile Device Management
- 1+ year of SPAM filtering administration and support
- 1+ year of Exchange Online- 0365 administration and support
- SPAM prevention software, Unified Communications, Mobile Device Management and Virtualization (VMware) a plus. Working knowledge of PowerShell, DOS batch files, file shares and file sharing concepts and replication.
- At least 2 years experience with standard IT infrastructure such as servers, switches/routers, web interface, Active Directory DNS, storage platforms, OS platforms, MS Office and desktop software preferred.
- Experience in messaging infrastructures for medium to large-scale corporate organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and troubleshooting skills are required
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds and with all levels of personnel
- Must be tactful and courteous taking appropriate initiative in all interpersonal interactions
- Communicates effectively about complex technical subject matter to non-technical staff.
