Job Description:
The Business Systems Analyst leads and directs elaboration activities in a cross-functional Agile IT team. In collaboration with business product owners, subject matter experts, and other IT team members, this role solicits requirements, performs gap analysis, and develops functional requirements. They support all team members throughout all phases of the SDLC. This role is required to perform root-cause and impact analysis on production issues of varying degrees of complexity. This position resides in a matrix environment and supports a large-scale distributed, complex technical platform.
Job Responsibilities:
Features and User Story Development 60%
Initiate elaboration meetings.
Drive feature elaboration by questioning the what, who, and why of the feature.
Break features down into user stories.
Gather, elicit, and document the details of user stories.
Maintain a healthy backlog of features and user stories for the team.
Use visual models to clarify a complex concept: Data Flow Diagram, Process Flow Diagram, etc.
Have thorough understanding of DB structure.
Possess good SQL skills in order to execute stored procedures, query and analyze data.
Have thorough understanding of system architecture.
Production Support 20%
Perform root-cause and impact analysis for Tier 2 tickets.
Have thorough SQL skills to perform data impact analysis.
Interacts with Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 3 (Technical teams) throughout the resolution process and final closure of the incident report.
Ensure that the support process SLAs are adhered to with timely handoffs from and to T1, T3, and the enhancement intake process when applicable.
Ensure that the quality of the T2 investigation contains sufficient data and supporting materials to allow T3 to complete their investigation.
Ensure that escalations are appropriately communicated to the right parties when warranted (major incidents).
Lead point person of contact on tickets he or she is assigned to.
Responds to customer inquiries.
General Delivery and Agile Process Participation 20%
Practice Agile approach and processes.
Work collaboratively to reach team and program goals.
Proactively report risks and issues to the Scrum Master.
Daily scrum meetings.
Sprint pre-planning meeting/story sizing.
Sprint planning meeting.
Sprint retrospective.
Sprint demos.
Sprint reviews.
Job Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
7+ years of Business Analyst experience
3+ years of SQL experience
3+ years of working experience dealing with customers - internal or external in any capacity
3+ years of working experience in a large scale complex distributed environment
Bachelor / Technical degree in any Information Technology field
Experience working in an Agile /Scrum environment
Mortgage industry experience preferred
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Comprehensive knowledge of all phases of SDLC
Proficiency with Personal Computers and Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft TFS, Outlook
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Experience with Issue tracking and ALM tools.
Familiarity with Service Oriented Architecture
Experience with Incident, Problem and Change Management principles
Familiarity with the Insurance industry preferred
