ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head of Data Architecture will help define the vision, strategy and principles for data management and understand how data is, or will be used and the implication on people, processes, products and technology. You will be expected to understand the current legacy systems through analysis and plan for future development and growth.
The position is an opportunity for a highly motivated person to work in a business-critical, high-visibility role for an innovative fast growing financial services company.
Essential Job Functions
· Lead in the data technology planning and execution
· Define data technology strategy
· Conduct current state assessment of our Data Warehouse and data processes
· Define the future state data architecture
· Responsible for ensuring that project data requirements are met
· Lead and support a team of Senior BI developers
YOU:
- Experience taking a lead role in architecture, designing and building data warehousing systems
- Technically proficient, especially SQL Server 2008 onwards and having experience working with Azure SQL DBs, Cloud SQL and BigQuery
- High level of knowledge of T-SQL scripting & debugging (stored procedures, user functions etc.) and SSIS package development.
- Extensive experience as a database and ETL(Extract, Transform, Load) developer for data ingestion and manipulation and maintaining ETL pipelines
- Experience with orchestration, monitoring and alerting in ETL pipelines like Airflow, Zaloni or similar
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Experience in Python, Hadoop, and Spark
- Technical Leadership experience including code and technical design reviews and mentoring junior engineers
Other Job Specific Experience/Technical Skills/Abilities
- Degree educated preferably in a Technology discipline
- Business Intelligence and Enterprise Architecture Design
- Financial Services Investment Management industry experience highly preferred
- Experience in helping organisation's define their Data Technology Strategy
- A deep understanding of architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices
- Hands-on experience defining enterprise-level data architectures and data modelling (including conceptual, logical and physical)
- Good understanding of the inter-relationship between the data architecture and the enterprise architecture stack (business, application, infrastructure)
- Detailed experience of systems integration, data warehousing and data mapping projects
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent inter-personal skills, with experience in working with senior management
- Proven self-working and motivational skills
- Ability to see the bigger picture whilst still be comfortable with the detail
