Job Description:
This position is for a Lead Software Engineer responsible for successful program execution throughout the software development cycle. The Lead Software Engineer defines program tasks and milestones, monitors program budget and schedule, responsible for technical management, software architecture, adherence to software development processes, analyze and define software requirements, attend design & code reviews, and lead SW test and integration effort through successful software and system qualification testing. Duties also include multidisciplinary team leadership development and execution of growth strategies, internal and external program reviews, market shaping and program development through direct customer engagement, proposal preparation and status reporting.
Additional qualifications include:
- Be able to manage and lead a software team to meet the project commitments within schedule and budget
- Experience with Earned Value Project Management
- Analyze and derive software requirements from system requirements and lead the design and testing effort
- Consult with systems, hardware, and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements of the overall system.
- Have strong technical skills and good understanding of software architecture best practices and come up with innovative approaches for new design and to improve existing software applications
- Familiar with software design tools and be able to effectively communicate the software design
- Excellent communication and writing skills and comfortable in interfacing with customers
- Develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming and documentation.
- Qualifications:
- 9+ years’ experience as a Software Engineer with Computer Science BS/BA (Bachelors) degree or better.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a SW Lead Position
- Proficient in C/C++ and Object-Oriented Programming.
- Experience in developing real-time embedded software.
- Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in Electronic Warfare and its subdivisions; Electronic Support (ES), Electronic Attack (EA) and Electronic Protection (EP)
- Experience with VxWorks Operating System
- Possess analytic skills to verify system/software functionality using MATLAB or Python
- Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain one.
