Position is responsible for applying advanced engineering and network principles, theories, concepts and technologies to developing, and executing tests for complex Ethernet- and IP-Based Data Network infrastructure and service elements. Within their area of proficiency, this individual will collaborate with teams across the Product Development and Technology teams to translate Architecture and Design, verifying test requirements and targeting to improve the overall quality of the final deliverables. As the primary provider of timely resolutions, this person will need to possess strong technical skills and the aptitude required to identify and address critical issues. As a seasoned team member, this person will be expected to contribute towards the team’s continuous process improvement and act as a mentor for other Engineers and peers.




  • Analyze new features to the product based on functional and design specifications, recommending and executing appropriate test strategies for a service provider network\infrastructure

  • Collaborate with Design teams and peers for development and eventual execution of Test Plans and Test Cases, resulting in Test Reports utilized by  Service Deliver and Service Assurance Teams (SD\SA), as well as the Product Management\Marketing teams, as appropriate

  • Identify and deliver on opportunities to drive organization improvements and increased efficiencies, which can require leading internal (within the team), as well as across variety of functional teams, and technologies

  • Lead design and implementation of test automation and best-practices to improve consistency and efficiencies in testing of product or service components across the broader team

  • Analyzes complex local and wide area data network infrastructure and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting service elements and protocol suites and configuring dedicate network devices or multi-service platforms to achieve or validate desired results

  • Manage vendor for delivery of HW and SW to achieve project or service objectives

  • Track & analyze test results and work closely with Engineering and SD\SA Teams to isolate and reproduce defects

  • Gather and analyze service quality and performance metrics throughout the product\service development life cycle

  • Communicate status and issues in a timely manner and manage escalations appropriately

  • Act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for less experienced peers

  • Work independently as well as lead a team of QA Engineers, and likely need to assist and coordinate of testing efforts between multiple (local, remote, and offshore) testing teams

  • Works effectively under high pressure situations within a dynamic team environment following QA standards and best practices to ensure the highest level of quality



Qualifications: 


 6 - 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 4+ years with Master's . equivalent education and relevant experience



  • Expert level knowledge of internetworking designs and their applications which include detailed routing on LAN/WAN networks, IP telephony, network troubleshooting and security monitoring.

  • Expert level knowledge of IP (IPv4 & IPv6) routing and switching, Dynamic routing protocols (i.e. BGP, ISIS, etc.), MPLS design considerations and operational behavior

  • Working knowledge with hands-on experience using and maintaining Network Testing platforms, either dedicated platforms such Spirent Test Center or iXia platform, or the associated virtual versions; preferably experience with Itest & Velocity

  • Experience with (or Certifications for) the following platforms (but not limited to these):  Cisco, Ciena, Juniper, Nokia (ALU/Lucent), Fortinet, Versa

  • Strong understanding of transport mediums—TDM (DS1, DS3, OCx), Ethernet, Wave, others

  • Experience and understanding across some of the following concepts or technologies: Voice over IP, quality of service (QoS), data security firewalls, multicast and/or IP video distribution, next generation (cloud) IP switching and routing, SDN (SD-WAN/NFV/VNF/etc.), DNS, Unix/Linux OS administration, Virtual Operating environments, AAA or User Network-Access Management (TACACS+/Radius/SNMP), Network Management fundamentals, tools and options

  • Experience scripting/programming—Python, Java, etc.  

  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing and supporting IP data networks, security methods and procedures

  • Demonstrated ability to leverage industry and technology knowledge, professional experience, certifications and other resources to test and certify complex network and adjunct services\platforms\infrastructure

  • Understanding of virtualization, cloud services and technologies

  • CCNP\JNCIP or equivalent experience required, CCIE\JNCIE or equivalent experience preferred
