Are you an intermediate-level systems engineer with cloud technology experience? Are you able to successfully contribute to the operational direction and development of roadmaps related to cloud infrastructure architecture? We’re seeking talented individuals to collaborate on a team to supports directs engineering efforts for WorkSafeBC’s cloud and infrastructure technologies. If you enjoy working with fellow DevOps team members to achieve balance between strategic design and tactical needs, we’re looking for people like you.



As a cloud systems engineer on our growing IT team in our head office in Richmond, B.C., your work will assist us in promoting workplace health and safety and providing support and rehabilitation to injured workers. You’ll support the DevOps team’s delivery and continuous improvement by assisting and mentoring other roles in their work, and promoting a strong team dynamic and respectful and collaborative culture.



What you’ll do


As a cloud systems engineer you will:



  • Develop and maintain cloud architectures for all infrastructure technologies across our Cloud, application, and database environments

  • Lead the target and reference architectures, architecture reviews and selection efforts, including strategy for interdependencies of multiple data stacks that interface between on-premise infrastructure, database, and application technologies, including systems, storage platforms, and LAN

  • Support the development of enterprise architectures such as Azure Public Cloud, by leading definition of target or solution architecture, architecture reviews, and selection efforts

  • Define and architect multiple cloud technology patterns that incorporate compute and storage infrastructure, database and application technologies and support network technologies including cloud LAN, WAN, and VPN

  • Create and maintain automation scripts and automated test cases for the deployment pipeline in the enterprise cloud environment

  • Support the technologies for continuous build, integration, and deployment of software into a cloud provider environment

Your experience and educational background:



  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) field

  • A minimum of six years of experience in progressively complex roles within an IT environment, with primary focus of the last one year in cloud technologies

  • Working knowledge of the following:

    • application of Agile and Scrum methodologies and practices within a project

    • full-stack development using programming and scripting languages such as PowerShell scripting or Azure Desired State Configuration

    • infrastructure configuration management and automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Salt, Ansible, and Terraform

    • measurement tools such as infrastructure, application, logging, APM, and user interface experience

    • ARM templates and JSON scripting for automated deployments

    • Azure IaaS and PaaS architectures

    • networking protocols and technologies such as routing, DNS, and network peering

    • scripted application deployment to Azure and the use of containerization

    • API architecture and hybrid cloud integration patterns



  • MCSE Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Certification or AWS Certified Solutions Architect is an asset

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
