The Private Bank (PB) within Global Wealth Management (GWM) assists high-net-worth individuals in managing their wealth, by advising them on how best to configure their assets for maximum benefit, and by providing financial services to achieve specific goals. GWM draws on the expertise of product specialists throughout JP Morgan, and coordinates the delivery of JPMorgan services furnished to private clients, so that they complement each other and are presented to (and reported to) the client in an integrated fashion.
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Big Data Software Engineer to join our team in Jersey City, NJ. This individual will be expected to help design, build and test our strategic Big Data HDFS platform. They will be expected to design components to ingest, curate, report and archive data. They will have to create massively scalable, resilient solutions which have very low operational costs. They will be expected to work with other Big Data engineering teams within the firm to agree and implement best practices. They will need to work closely with data providers and data modelers to understand the data and its business criticality.
Job Responsibilities:
- Write code and set coding standards / best practices within the team.
- Create automated tests for software created and define automated testing best practices within the team.
- Lead technical design and review sessions.
- Ensure solutions are scalable and resilient.
- Participate in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle.
- Incorporate security requirements into design.
- Understand the structures, usage and sources of data.
- Establish strong working relationships with team members and across the business.
- Handle individual workload and deliver project milestones on time and on budget.
- Demonstrate ability to work well in a team environment.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of relevant experience working in data centric applications (Big Data or very large RDB).
- Highly proficient in Java & Scala.
- Very experienced in Big Data components ( HDFS, HBase, Hive, Kafka, ZooKeeper, Impala, Esgyn ).
- Excellent analytic and problem solving skills.
- Good communication skills; written and oral.
- Bachelors Degree in a related subject ( Computer Science or Engineering).
