We are looking to appoint a high-caliber Software System Engineer to join our team in the Wired Communication department within our Power Grids division. Based in Bern, Switzerland, you will be responsible for defining and implementing a new GSM-R TDM-to-packet voice gateway project within a TDM/packet cellular access architecture that offers various protocols and services. Tasks:



  • Define, model, and implement various software applications ranging from kernel (C) to application space (C++)

  • Specify and develop new GSM-R voice gateway application software for modular XMC20 access platform

  • Take technical lead in an agile team of developers to design and implement software, run automated testing, and conduct integration tests

  • Work in close collaboration with Product Management and Sales to ensure that customer requirements are understood and met in full

  • Visit customers at various locations within and/or outside of Europe for occasional business meetings


Requirements:



  • Solid qualifications in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology

  • System expertise relating to VoIP gateways and mobile networks (GSM, LTC, etc.), coupled with hands-on experience in these fields and at least three years’ experience in software development

  • Good understanding of Linux (VxWorks considered a plus) and demonstrable abilities in C++ embedded software development

  • Knowledge of re-engineering and refactoring of large-scale software (> 3 MLOC)

  • Agile leadership mindset, preferably complemented by proficiency in use of agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe – Scaled Agile Framework)

  • Passion for technology and ambition to deliver best-in-class results

  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; French and/or German considered an advantage
