Purpose of Position
We are developing a large-scale, state of the art IOT PAAS cloud service commonly used by waste water treatment plants and are actively seeking a helping hand to maintain and improve our cloud infrastructure. As a DevOps Architect / Engineer (m/f) you will work together with the Instrument and Data management team to bring our PAAS infrastructure to the next level. You will help us to improve the deployment of our .NET application and establish continuous delivery and integration. Your comprehensive experience allows you to fulfil your duties autonomously and with a focus on quality and sustainability. Your good communication skills will contribute to the open, straightforward and respectful way the team is interacting with each other.
Essential Functions
- Have a DevOps mindset and enjoy spreading the knowledge behind software delivery, versioning and integration
- You should be ready to get involved in building and improvising the automated tools to build infrastructure, monitoring and alerting system and Data visualization
- Aficionado of clean code, software design patterns, software testing and applying common infrastructure patterns
- Coding and/or scripting solutions to automate processes
- Communicating and collaborating with development teams and IT
- Identify and implement tools that will optimize processes
- Azure, Virtualization, AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes: These should ring a bell, and are not a foreign word
- Administration of different environments on Cloud
- Experience in writing infrastructure as code using Terraform is a big plus
- Experience in configuration management tools like Puppet and Ansible is an added advantage
- Exceptional scripting know-how using Bash, PowerShell and other scripting languages
- Create and implement strategies to improve processes; including process re-engineering as required
- Manage license agreements for the development environment
- Have experience in incident management: should keep a cool head in an emergency, maintain poise amid incidents
- Collaborate with the Information Security Architect and the R&D Cloud Architect to ensure data privacy compliance and security requirements are implemented for the cloud environments
- Should be willing to participate on a revolving on call schedule
- Collaborate on creating and implementing cloud policies and governess
- You should be open and ready to travel across the globe if required
Education, Background and Skill Requirements
- BA or BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical degree
- 3+ years proven experience effectively supporting cloud environments
- Exceptional attitude and work ethic
- Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
- Ability to code and script
- Experience with systems and IT operations
- Comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
- Strong grasp of automation tools
- Data management skills
- A strong focus on business outcomes
- Object oriented programming know how
- Possible expert skill areas: Microservices, Docker, Bash, Powershell, Bamboo, Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, Azure, AWS, Application and infrastructure monitoring using Icinga and application insights, Agile software development and Ansible
- Good to have skill areas: Understanding of .Net, SQL and Angular
- Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
