MSK is seeking 3 Bioinformatics Software Engineers to join the Comp Onc Program in the Dept of Epi Bio.
Working independently, the Bioinformatics Software Engineer will develop software to support leading edge, large scale research efforts in computational biology including genomics, imaging and clinical data analysis and interpretation. Motivated by contributing meaningfully to contemporary progress in cancer research driven by advances in computing and data, we are seeking talented, highly skilled engineers with experience developing robust, enterprise level contemporary software systems. We are recruiting experts in three key areas: data analysis workflows in high performance computing systems (including cloud), database engineering, and data visualization. The Bioinformatics Software Engineers will articulate requirements, plan and implement development cycles, take responsibility for testing and quality assurance, develop documentation and will ensure timely delivery of progress in coordination with research scientists, other senior/junior Bioinformatics Software Engineers in the team, and the principal investigators. May supervise small teams of junior developers.
You Will:
- Process and analyze data from high-throughput next-generation sequencing
- Design, develop, and operate software and databases as part of bioinformatics data processing and analysis system
- Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation
- Provide consultation and guidance to research scientists, as well as other bioinformatics and software engineers, at the Center
- Lead projects and collaborate with computational and bioinformatics scientists to develop tools to build upon and answer research questions
- Train researchers in the use of computational and bioinformatics tools and develop training module

To be considered for Bioinformatics Software Engineer V, you need:
- PhD. and 2-4 years of related experience
- Master’s Degree and 4-7 years of related experience or BS with 7-10 yrs of experience
- Cross-disciplinary and strong analytic skills, as well as broad experience with bioinformatics methods, software and computer programming languages are essential
