Corporate Technology is looking for a senior level Database Administrator (DBA) with a background in supporting Sybase, SQL Server etc., services preferred. Skill sets include (but not limited to) database tuning, manage/support database release cycles, ensure the availability, stability and performance of all database environments which include Development, QA, UAT, SIT production and disaster recovery databases. 
 
This individual should have a strong competence replication, mirroring, clustering.  Individual should have direct experience interacting with the development teams in architecting database design, setup and onboarding. This individual must have experience in performance tuning, trouble shooting and production support.  Individual needs to be self-disciplined and proactive in terms of reviewing the various environments and making recommendations on efficiency gains. Ability to set up replication, direct experience with Dataguard and other Oracle offerings.
 
Individual will have to work with other types of databases such as Sybase, MySQL, Exadata, etc.. In terms of Oracle, direct hands on experience working with Oracle 11g and 12c.  Other skills required include and not limited to:  Shell scripting, Perl, etc.  From a database perspective, the ideal candidate should have experience in Oracle Enterprise Manager, workload repository, database security design and schema management.
 
This is a hands on role with exposure to many levels within the organization.  This individual should be able to work with infrastructure operations, various development teams, project managers and solution architects.  This candidate should have very strong communications skills on all levels: written, presentation, and technical writing skills/communication.  This individual should be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and in groups.


You will work with the Information Architect and Database Designer to help implement the physical data model. Help develop and validate the database implementation plan. Create database objects and maintain their physical organization/relationships. Support the data loads into the databases. Ensure that the application, and any enhancements, interact efficiently with the database. Develop and implement database performance monitoring process and analyze monitoring data for performance optimization opportunities.




As a Database Administrator, you will work in a team environment to provide database support including:



  • Support Global Technology and Line of Business (LOB) with major incidents, changes and customer requests.


  • Replication setup / management


  • System support, troubleshooting and resolution


  • DR testing / recovery / backups


  • Data porting


  • Vendor management / escalation


  • Performance tuning


  • Participate in troubleshooting, support and value added initiatives

 

Qualifications




  • 7 years of hands on experience in a large scale distributed environment.



  • Experienced DBA focused on Oracle, Microsoft SQL and Sybase; Exadata a plus



  • Practical exposure to monitoring tools Oracle, Tivoli UA, etc.



  • Oracle RAC, ASM CRS installation and support



  • Sybase ASE and IQ is a plus



  • Certified Hadoop admin is an asset



  • Knowledge in Big Data space like hive, hBase, Spark , maria is a big plus



  • Storage management and efficiency



  • Data warehouse, clustering and replication methodologies



  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting



  • Ability to support environments while executing projects deliverables



  •  Responsible for production and non production database application support.


  • Ability to architect, design and configure large, complex databases with replication and high-availability on the most current MSSQL versions.

  • Translate comprehensive DB architecture, implementation and upgrade plans and assists in definition of database standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Lead data requirements, architecture review, and modeling sessions.

  • Primary contact for projects within the team, interfacing with project managers, application development staff and executive management and infrastructure teams.

  • Day-to-day production support (incident coordination, changes, service requests, vulnerability management, performance tuning).

  • Customer support & communications.

  • Good communication skills for providing documentation to support personnel, customers, and managers
