About the Project:
Globoforce is a leading provider of social recognition solutions. We have a SaaS based solution, on a single platform. We release frequently across all of our customer base.
We’re expanding our platform capability - creating and building a new model for using our award winning products. It’s an exciting new strategic direction for Globoforce and a high priority project.
To begin, we are forming a new technical team, purely focused on building the first version of that solution for Globoforce.
The opportunity for you is to shape the technical direction and deliver the best technical version of the solution, as well as forming and people managing a technical team.
You will manage a team of Developers and Automation Engineers (on-shore & offshore, front and back end), collaborating closely with the Product Owner, UX Designer and Software Architect. You’ll also have regular C- level visibility (CEO, CTO, VP Product).
Here’s just some of what you will be doing:
- Team Leader for a Product Feature Area, with responsibility for design, delivery and support of high-quality engineering solutions to meet goals and milestones.
- Developing people on your team, managing performance through 1-1’s, coaching, mentoring, career planning etc.
- Be an Agile advocate and push for best practices in the areas of development practices (including secure coding), quality assurance, continuous integration, test automation and deploy-on-demand
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering Management to determine release scope and ensure that features meet requirements
- Keep stakeholders updated throughout the development cycle. The role will involve collaborating with multiple teams including architects, UX staff, product managers and any other stakeholders who contribute to delivery in your team’s area
- Ensure a positive and fast paced environment is fostered and maintained on your team
- Be actively involved in hiring and growing our engineering team including managing remote staff.
Skills and Experience
Our role focuses equally on both the people leading and the technical side. Here’s some of what will make your application successful;
- A hands-on techie – from a Java Stack background.
- Passionate about your work
- More recent experience leading technical teams for at least 2 years upwards.
- Leadership style based on empowering people to come up with their own solutions
- Experience managing successful delivery including; risk assessment, guiding, organising and motivating the teams to deliver.
- Experience shaping and guiding the technical solution – e.g. assessing the complexity of the project and collaborating with architects/ developers, product etc on solutions design.
- Experience in people managing and leading an Agile technical team’s performance (developers/ testers). This includes; coaching, mentoring, code reviews, 1-1’s, performance reviews and career planning.
- Experience collaborating with technical teams including; on and off shore developers, architects, product, UX/UI.
- Experience working with senior level Executives (C level) including status reporting, progress updates, bi weekly calls/meetings etc.
Soft skills:
- Respectful - Excellent influencing skills - collaborative and open in your approach – strong problem solving and critical analysis skills – excellent communication skills.
