Summary
Comcast's Smart Network Platform (SNP) organization aims to revolutionize network engineering at Comcast by providing an orchestration and telemetry platform to drive consistency and standardization, eliminate manual changes, increase network visibility, and ultimately minimize customer impacting incidents. SNP's Product team seeks a passionate technologist who shares our excitement for networking, software development, design and building delightfully intuitive, performant, and disruptive products. This individual will dive deeply into complex network orchestration and telemetry ventures, to evaluate and define solutions while serving as a technical expert for the development and testing teams.


Responsibilities
Partner with internal network architecture, engineering, and operations teams to understand and advocate for their needs and priorities
Maintain strong comprehension of Comcast's internal network automation and telemetry product portfolio as well as reference knowledge of Comcast network architectures, topologies, and platforms
Perform technical requirements analysis for network orchestration and telemetry capabilities, to document use cases and acceptance criteria in support of functional and non-functional requirements
Guide application architecture, design, and acceptance in advancement of product roadmaps and in assurance of product quality
Lead technical grooming activities with development teams to transfer knowledge of product requirements
Serve as a network engineering/architectural subject matter expert in support of application development, testing, and deployment
Provide strategic direction for roadmap creation and long-range planning
Assist with definition of network vendor selection criteria and help evaluate platforms in terms of their compliance with said specifications as well as their ease of integration
Participate in and further communities such as (but not limited to) OpenConfig and the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) on behalf of Comcast's requirements and contributions
Present at product demonstrations, trainings, and other internal customer-facing forums
Drive continuous improvement of deployed platforms by consistently looking for ways to expand capabilities. improve efficiency, and reduce costs
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Skill/Experience:
Excellent written and verbal English skills
Passion for and knowledge of network automation and telemetry trends and technologies
Detailed knowledge of routing and switching or load balancing; valid CCNA or JNCIA certification preferred
Experience with Java or Python development, including object-oriented concepts
Exposure to web services (gRPC, REST, JSON-RPC, or SOAP)
Experience with YANG, JSON, and XML (including XPATH); Protobufs a plus
Proficiency in Linux environments and utilities
Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work autonomously, providing accurate reporting of work


Job Specification:
- Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
- Engineering, Computer Science
- Generally requires 5-8 years related experience
