A Rapidly growing technology startup SmartAsset is seeking a Backend Engineer, that is proficient with Java. This Backend Engineer will be part of a Venture (Y Combinator Company) back Startup that is using financial modeling technology to provide accurate, interactive answers to important personal finance questions.
SmartAsset is a consumer advocate, recommending specific strategies so people can make smarter decisions and save money. They Backend Engineer / Software Engineer will be working on implementing entirely new features and functionality from scratch, as well as enhancing, maintaining and bug-fixing our existing code-base. You will also have the ability to work on various components of there apps, including their in-depth user-analytics, back-end/number-crunching/data-processing core or the presentation layer.
Responsibilities:
- Develop high traffic, large-scale and concurrent web applications for both Agency and Brand customers
- Architect high performance, scalable solutions
- Maintain and expand upon knowledge of multiple languages, frameworks, tools, devices, applications, and their capabilities
- Design, develop, implement and maintain a flagship social integration platform
- Create mechanisms for scraping data
- Design and develop amazing customer friendly products
- Develop models within distributed computing frameworks
- Design and build complex applications with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and high-reliability
Requirments:
- Strong professional experience as a software developer
- Excellent knowledge of at least 2+ Programming Languages (e.g. Java, PHP, Perl, C#, C++, Objective C, Ruby, Python, etc) Preferably Java
- Excellent knowledge of common programming patterns
- Good understanding of relational databases (SQL) and some understanding of non-relational data stores
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
- Working knowledge of *nix systems, networking and internet protocols
- Good social and cooperation skills
- Excellent communication skills
