How will you invent the future?
As an Experienced Web API Developer at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow. Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives.
Join a Global Web API Development team to help us build API solutions which solve important problems and improve human health. Working within our Global Team, the selected candidate will work collaboratively with product teams and end users. The candidate will create detailed architectures and designs and then implement those designs with high-quality code.
We are seeking motivated talent interested in solving problems to improve tomorrow.
You will:
- Be part of a team that designs, implements, deploys and operates an API platform as well as APIs loved by developers
- Help implement a strategic API shift initiative at Merck
- Work in a lean agile environment
- Work through the entire development lifecycle (analysis, development, quality assurance, documentation, release, operation)
You will work and learn more about:
- Various technologies for building APIs and services
- How to build modern and quality services for (and within) enterprise environment
- Full lifecycle of an enterprise platform
- IT specifics in a regulated pharma industry
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field
- Master's degree preferred
Required Experience:
- 3 or more years of experience developing Web APIs
- Experience with JavaScript and node.js
- Experience in API gateways such as Apigee
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a broader team
- Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the business
- Expertise with modern and emerging web API standards and technologies
- Passion for agile, test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated testing
- Strong technical skills
- Experience using Agile methodology
Preferred Experience:
- Experience building solutions on cloud infrastructure such as AWS
- Experience with “serverless” technologies
- Ability to advocate for change and innovation even when risks are involved
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work with geographically disparate teams
