Edgelink is currently seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to define the deployment, operation and monitoring vision of the software. In over achieving that goal, you will be an integral part of the Software Development Team and work with the others on the team to negotiate an understanding and communication of your goals. Your responsibilities include:
- Participating in the design, development, review and retrospective activities to help ensure that the product delivers its business value in a manner that is sustainable and secure within the production environment.
- Using configuration management tools to automate the infrastructure.
- Determining project objectives, such as, efficiency, cost savings, operator convenience, data integrity, and redundancy.
- Work closely with the CTO to create and improve application and environmental architecture.
- Improve operational quality results by studying, evaluating, and recommending re-design; implementing changes; contributing information and opinion to software development teams.
- Anticipate operational problems by studying operating targets, modes of operation, unit limitations; monitoring unit performance.
- Identify key system metrics and ensure adequate monitoring coverage for new and existing services.
- Identify operational problems by observing and studying system functioning and performance results; investigating complaints and suggestions; completing troubleshooting procedures.
- When outages occur, or are imminent, you, and the whole team, must promptly respond to support the needs of the business users within our Service Level Agreements.
Required Skills
- Ability to script in Python, Ruby, NodeJS, PowerShell or Bash
- Comfort with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment
- Strong grasp of automation tools
- Data management skills
- Ability to understand and promote valuable metrics
- A strong focus on business outcomes
- Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
- Application clustering and load balancing concepts and technologies
