DevOps/Build Engineering Manager at Cylance (Portland, OR)

THE POSITION


Cylance is seeking a talented Research Engineering Manager. Leading a team charged with optimizing our existing CI/CD pipeline, developing and extending QA automated testing practices, and managing AWS infrastructure.  You'll be joining our research infrastructure team and working on bringing our micro services to support threat research operations. You'll also research new technologies to improve existing systems and design new ones.



This role is one that has a subspecialty with heavy emphasis on being Build Engineering SME.  It will entail optimize a global scale CI/CD pipeline with wide autonomy to implement solutions that ships software safely and reliably.  This will help ensure the latest micro services are deployment ready all the time. 



WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Automate the environment buildouts and code deployment processes (continually review/improve automation as needed

  • Support AWS infrastructure (EC2, Aurora, S3, Kinesis)

  • Coordinate and be able to resolve issues across the entire stack - hardware, software, application and network

  • Provide expertise on reliability, performance and scalability challenges

  • Support and maintain existing build engineering efforts (Jenkins/Puppet4/Fabric)

  • Optimize current CI/CD infrastructure to increase scalability, reliability and safety.

  • Have an allergic reaction to the words "defer" and "works on my box"

  • Be a strong team player and work well within a diverse, cross-functional team



WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR



  • 5-10 years of software development/administration experience on a Unix-like system Minimum 2 years of engineering management

  • Mastery of Python for CI/CD pipeline construction using fabric/boto

  • SDLC, source control, unit testing, agile development methodologies

  • Collaborative and team-oriented attitude

  • Well versed with git source control

  • Experience with refactoring legacy code

  • Ability to describe technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks with little to no supervision

  • Intellectual curiosity, humility, accountability and positive approach

  • Strong desire to create readable, testable, maintainable code

  • Understand concepts of loose coupling when designing and developing software systems



BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with streaming architectures (Kafka/Kinesis)

  • Experience with implementing deployment pipelines that enable CI/CD

  • Experience with Tornado, Jenkins, Puppet4, Fabric

  • Experience developing security software

  • Open source code portfolios
