Job Description :

What role you will play in our team :

The Senior Software Developer actively collaborates with internal customers and software development teams to develop software solutions to ExxonMobils Global Projects business.

What you will do :

- Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams and management

- Participates in all aspects of application development including work planning, requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.

- Understand, analyze business requirements

- Design and develop desktop and cloud-based components for complex applications

- Work with technical experts, analysts, programmers and other team members to develop, enhance and support proprietary modules, including delivering to desktop and cloud.

- Design and Prototyping application

- Support internal business clients on issue resolution in a global operations environment.

- Participate in agile ceremonies

- Implement requirements into software design documents / database design as well

- Perform validation and verification testing as part of software development

- Write Unit/Integration/Automation Testing for the business modules

- Review software application code as per industry coding best practices

- Analyze and debug application source code

- Collaborate with business partners / users / Product Owner(s) for business requirement clarifications and sustainment issues

- Continuous monitor application / system health in CI/CD as well

- Develop sustainable/scalable software design, architecture consistent with Design principles/industry best practices

- Prepare work/task break down for the features and make product backlog healthy

- Implement modern application features or technologies as per industry standards

- Improve security features for the application based on Modern Authentication & Authorization

- Innovate or improve process/product features to enhance or improve business / application

- Develop technical documentations

Skills and Qualifications :

- Bachelors degree or Masters degree from a recognized university in Computer Sciences

- Minimum of 8 years experience in software development with Microsoft toolchain with emphasis on WPF, WCF/Web API, C#, .NET, MS-SQL. Entity Framework

- Prior work experience with design patterns, unit testing and testable code.

- Prior work experience in the following :

a. Microsoft Azure

b. Web API- Restful Services

c. User Interface Development e.g. WPF and QT frameworks, UI patterns such as MVVM

d. Agile Development

e. CI/CD Pipelines

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience :

- Upstream oil and gas industry

- Angular, ReactJS, TypeScript, Java Script, CSS, HTML5

Responsibilities :

- Design and Develop : Architect and implement scalable data pipelines using Spark, Flink, Airflow, and Apache Hudi to process large-scale data efficiently.

- Database and Storage Optimization : Work extensively with Redshift, ClickHouse, and other databases, optimizing query performance, storage, and cost efficiency.

- Data Lake and ETL Development : Build and manage data lakes and ingestion frameworks using AWS services such as S3 Glue, and EMR.

- Data Modeling and System Design : Design and implement robust data models for structured and semi-structured datasets, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability.

- Real-time and Batch Processing : Develop and maintain both real-time and batch data pipelines using technologies like Flink, Spark Streaming, and Kafka.

- AWS and Cloud Infrastructure : Leverage AWS services (S3 Redshift, Lambda, ECS, etc. ) to build a scalable and cost-efficient data ecosystem.

- Automation and Orchestration : Manage workflow automation and orchestration using Apache Airflow.

- Mentorship : Guide and mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to best practices for data engineering.

- Monitoring and Optimization : Implement observability (monitoring, alerting, logging) for data pipelines to ensure reliability and performance.

Requirements :

- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, big data processing, and cloud-based data architectures.

- Strong expertise in Redshift, ClickHouse, and other distributed databases.

- Experience with Apache Spark, Flink, Apache Hudi, and Airflow.

- Deep knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and database optimization.

- Hands-on experience in building data pipelines on AWS (S3 Glue, Redshift, EMR, Lambda, etc. ).

- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Scala for data engineering tasks.

- Experience in mentoring and leading junior engineers in best practices.

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.

- Familiarity with streaming data technologies (Kafka, Kinesis, Pulsar, etc. ).

- Prior experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, or serverless architectures.

- Exposure to data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
