A Fathom5 Software Engineer will:

• Have clear ideas about software architecture and design and the opportunity to express them when working alongside the CEO, Chief Engineer, and Director of Software Development to build cutting-edge technologies


• Find joy in: working alongside team members that are at, below, and above your skill-level to solve technical challenges; providing mentorship; and receiving mentorship in turn, as a software engineer and as a leader


• Seek out, claim, and solve challenging tasks/issues for development, and support others as they do the same


• Depending on your interest, lead small teams of engineers OR become an internal subject matter expert on a core element of our software base

A Fathom5 Software Engineer will:

• Be intimately familiar with developing and maintaining software projects with a microservices architecture


• Be accustomed to everyday use of Windows and UNIX CLI tools


• Have familiarity with cloud computing platforms


• Have proficiency in Git


• Be cognizant of project technical debt and its management

She/he will also preferably have two or more of the following technical qualities:

• CI/CD experience


• System monitoring and logging experience


• Experience in the creation, use, and orchestration of containerization technologies


• Database engineering experience


• Agile development experience


• Asymmetric/symmetric encryption experience

An individual in the Fathom5 Software Engineer position will develop/possess the following traits:

• Programming expertise – Mastery of one or more statically-typed programming languages (Go, Rust, C, and C++ preferred) with the ability to address advanced programming concepts. At least 2 years of GOLANG experience is highly desirable.


• Clear and effective communication – Written and oral communication skills sufficient to explain technical material to other team members and customers.

The Fathom5 Software Engineer is an entry to senior-level position and will have these credentials:

• B.S. / B.A. from an accredited four-year university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electric Engineering with a CS focus. Coding academy certifications are also welcomed and accepted


• 1-4 years experience in a professional business environment with leadership experience
