There is the possibility of renewal, contingent on funding, university priorities and satisfactory job performance.Special Note: We will be hiring two (2) Senior Developers. The Identity and Access Management Group (IAM) of Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is seeking a Senior Developer to be a member of the IAM Product Management Team to support the software development and delivery of identity and access management services. This is a unique opportunity to directly influence the design, development and deployment of emerging IAM technologies that will be consumed by schools and departments throughout Harvard University.Typical Core Duties


  • Participate fully in software development life cycle

  • Research, design, and implement technical solutions to deliver business requirements

  • Identify opportunities to improve and simplify applications portfolio and implement related enhancements

  • Contribute to creation and maturing of software development best practices and new technologies

  • Draw on relationship and technical skills to act as technical liaison to internal and external clients and to mentor junior staff

  • Abide by and follow the Harvard University IT technical standards, policies and Code of Conduct




Basic Qualifications



  • Minimum of five years' post-secondary education and/or relevant work experience



Additional Qualifications


The following skills are strongly preferred



  • Strong knowledge of OOP and Core Java

  • Experience with working on spring framework components like: Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring MVC, JPA, Hibernate, WebServices (REST) and unit testing frameworks like Junit and Mockito

  • Strong knowledge of UI technologies and experience in working with Angular, Thymeleaf, JSP, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, jQuery, TypeScript and JavaScript

  • Experience with software design patterns like creational, structural, behavioral patterns

  • Experience in DevOps process and tools like Jenkins, build tools like Maven/Gradle and versioning system like Git/Github/Bitbucket etc.

  • Ability to write SQL with complex joins on RDBMS, understanding of database functions and procedures


Additional Skills



  • Experience in using authentication protocols like SAML2, OIDC/OAuth2, CAS etc.

  • Conceptual knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) domain and the software components and technologies used in IAM

  • Experience in developing and deploying applications to cloud platforms like AWS

  • Ability to quickly learn and deliver on analogous technologies not previously worked on and ability to communicate clearly across teams in the project



Certificates and Licenses



  • Completion of Harvard IT Academy specified foundational courses (or external equivalent) preferred
