About the opportunity:
The AdRoll Group is seeking a Tech Lead to join the RollWorks reporting team to work with engineers, product managers, and designers to develop and ship the highest quality products in the market. You will lead an engineering team working on big data pipelines as well as the RollWorks reporting APIs and dashboards they power. You will be actively coding along with guiding a team of engineers to success. Experience working on reporting dashboards or analytics systems is a big plus.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, other engineers to plan, scope, build, and deploy new features.
- Provide architectural guidance and oversight for any project they are involved in.
- Mentors engineers in regular 1:1 sessions.
- Code responsibly: minimize tech debt, advocate for change or investment as needed, test and monitor everything
- Be almost fanatical about data and reporting accuracy
- Defining project and task breakdown and dissemination.
- Apply project management skills/techniques and direct the work of team members.
- Leading cross department projects and networking with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results often with incomplete data.
- Help establish technical standards and methodologies as the product(s) scales up
- Work on all levels of our reporting pipeline and dashboards; coding side-by-side with the developers on your team
- Build for performance and reliability
- Display technical leadership to the whole Engineering organization
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience building production web applications and/or reporting pipelines in a corporate or start-up environment.
- Experience architecting and leading multi-person technical projects
- Experience mentoring more junior engineers
- Experience with (or willingness to master) our stack, in order of importance: Python (Flask), Java, EMR, Hadoop, Spark, JavaScript (React/Redux), Docker, and AWS
- A proven foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design
Bonus Points:
- Experience building analytics systems and dashboards
- Real passion for making beautiful and delightful web experiences
- Experience with agile development methodologies, CI/CD
- Interest in deployment automation and scalable infrastructure. (AdRoll is a big user of AWS!)
- Contributions to the open source community
