Tableau Administrator (Position in Charlotte or Kansas City) at Transportation Insight (Raleigh, NC)

JOB PURPOSE

This position will develop and maintain a Tableau Server environment for use in an embedded solution. The job of Business Intelligence Administrator will help implement, support, maintain and upgrade the Tableau Server, as well as the workbooks and security groups within. This individual will also be versed in BI development, creating visualizations that meet customer needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Expert knowledge of Tableau installation, administration, and configuration

• Knowledge of Tableau maintenance, performance monitoring, and tuning

• Build and publish customized interactive Tableau reports and dashboards along with data refresh scheduling using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server

• Setting up separate sites for different clients

• Support Tableau Server and embedded visualizations, security groups set up through REST API

• Create Tableau Scorecards, Dashboards using stack bars, bar graphs, scattered plots, geographical maps, line/pie graphs, and charts
  
  

PERFORMANCE METRICS

• Maintain and support Tableau to meet customer demand

• Partner with development team to deliver embedded Tableau visualizations

• Conform to acceptable industry standards for quality and effective data visualization and reporting

• Comply with acceptable accuracy levels for all authored reporting and analytics deliverables

• Continuously improve data integrity and reporting effectiveness
  
  

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of Tableau Administration and Development experience preferred
  
  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Qualified applicants should have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Science or related field; equivalent work experience and aptitude is acceptable in place of degree

• Expertise with Tableau repository, TABCMD, and TABADMIN commands

• Experience with data visualization best practices required

• Windows server experience preferred

• Database tools such as MS SQL Server and MongoDB

• Demonstrated knowledge of application configuration, maintenance and support

• Strong Work Ethic

• Creative solutions mentality (out of the box thinking)

• Risk-conscious, but not adverse

• Strong systems modeling and communication skills

• Strong analytical ability
