Title: Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Front End)

We do that by combining great technology with great people - and we're looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Front End) to join our team.

What we're looking for:
You're a motivated front end engineer with some substantial experience, and you're ready to take your skills to the next level. You persistently keep up with new web technologies, and you've got expert knowledge in mobile web development. You can work independently without a hitch but also thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. You'll bring your passion for writing efficient, maintainable, and reusable code-plus your unwavering commitment to quality, intuitive web interface development. And of course, you're eager to learn even more.

What you'll do:
As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Front End), you'll manage and grow a team of exceptional front-end software engineers working on Zap-which consists of our consumer products for home buyers and sellers and our industry-leading CRM for real estate professionals. You'll be a subject matter expert, facilitating and guiding technical discussions. Some of the responsibilities you'll have include:



  • Champion the Agile methodology (Kanban), pushing continuous integration and delivery

  • Collaborate with product management teams to ensure we're building the best products

  • Create reference implementations (code) for the purpose of mentoring and leading more junior staff (when required)

  • Evangelize about new technologies, solutions, and best practices

  • Communicate how technology impacts the business and support the business through the definition

  • Apply practical knowledge of agile project methods to the design and development cycle


Skills, accomplishments, & interests you should have:



  • 5 years of experience leading software engineering teams (mentoring junior engineers, setting technical direction, etc.)

  • Javascript knowledge and exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks

  • Experience working with modern front-end technologies work (e.g., Webpack, Browserify, SASS, Grunt/Gulp, Mocha, Chai, etc.)

  • Experience with responsive web design and development

  • Understanding of accessibility standards

  • Track record of delivering successful, innovative solutions

  • Experience in agile environments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • A curious personality and a love for learning

  • Highly skilled in digital user interface technologies

  • Adaptable and able to learn quickly

  • Demonstrated broad experience applying technical standards and change control policies and procedures

  • Expert knowledge of a particular technology/language or unit-specific application

  • Ability to work with people on your team as well as other departments efficiently
