for the Actuarial Consulting & Data Analytics of the Asia-Pacific/Africa (APA) department

Munich Res Actuarial Consulting & Data Analytics within the Global Consulting is a premium service for reinsurance clients that covers the whole value chain of motor and property insurance, supporting Munich Re target clients and prospects with know-how transfer and hands-on support on the spot. As a data scientist in the Actuarial Consulting & Data Analytics team, you will advise external and internal clients on data analytics topics relating to primary insurance business.

 
 

Your Job:

• 
  
• Developing advanced machine learning models and telematics driving score propositions for different Munich Re clients
• 
  
• Assisting in the development of insurance strategies for primary insurers in connection with pricing and telematics
• 
  
• Supporting the growth of MI dashboards to monitor the clients main KPIs
• 
  
• Assisting in the implementation of end-to-end telematics solutions to external insurance clients
• 
  
• Assisting in monitoring and analyzing the telematics portfolio performance of external clients
• 
  
• Collaborating on technical publications and supporting involvement in events
• 
  
•  Consulting the Underwriting and Client Management Units within the Munich Re Group to maintain, acquire, and promote profitable motor business
• 
  

Your Profile:

• 
  
• Masters Degree or Ph.D. in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, or  engineering, with a minimum of five years working experience in the fields of advanced data analytics and machine learning
• 
  
• Exceptional skills in coding with R and/or Python
• 
  
• Sound knowledge of big data platforms (e.g. Hadoop) and cloud computing, as well as streaming technology (AWS, Kafka, Microsoft Azure)
• 
  
• Very good knowledge of machine learning algorithms (e.g. GLM, GBM, Random Forest)
• 
  
• Proven experience with data visualization tools (e.g. RShiny, Tableau, SAS VA, Power BI)
• 
  
• Experience with telematics data from IOT or connected cars, primary insurance pricing, software development and/or version control (e.g. Git) is a plus
• 
  
• High flexibility combined with the willingness to travel and work abroad
• 
  
• Very clear sense of responsibility, especially in dealings with external and internal clients
• 
  
• Very good command of English and ideally French or Spanish
•
