As a member of Tessian's (formerly CheckRecipient) backend-engineering team, you'll be part of a growing division building a dependable infrastructure for processing email traffic in real-time.
First and foremost, we're looking for experienced Software Engineers (with a background in any language!), who are interested in learning Node.JS. Ideally you'll have either a C#, Python, Java, or, well, you name it, backend software engineering background and are looking for a change and a chance to learn Node. Maybe this is a new and interesting idea, maybe you've been thinking about making a change for a while, but didn't feel comfortable quitting work to do so. If you love programming and want to expand your language set and think it'd be great to work with the benefits of this event-driven, efficient, asynchronous language, we want to speak to you.
We'll start you off with a quick online Node course whilst you learn on the job - we'll start with simple tasks and quickly build up your Node knowledge under our experienced Node team lead. The team is small and so there are a lot of opportunities for development!
Unlike most Node roles we're using Node for some pretty low-level programming, drilling down to fundamentals. This is not a frontend or fullstack web-app role - we're building a core functional software backend with Node to support Tessian's cybersecurity platform.
We'll test you on your languages of choice, because we know great coders can pick up other languages fast, and we think Node is a really brilliant coding language with a lot of untapped potential.
You'll have 3+ years in professional software backend engineering, be a great thinker, as well as a coder, and you'll have the ability to plan, question, suggest and explain - skills we value as highly as your ability to code! We also place great stock in Agile working, our daily standups, and a 2-hour session of Deep Work (no interruptions!).
As part of our team, you'll be working across the board; collaborating with our data scientists who are building new machine learning threat models, architecting our application to scale with our growing client base, diagnosing issues and helping out new team members.
Our technology stack includes Haraka (an open source email server), Docker, AWS/Azure, Postgres and more - you'll be helping to build a new generation of AI-based enterprise security.
