How will you invent the future? 

As a Senior Application Security Analyst at Merck’s Austin IT HUB, you will be part of inventing tomorrow. Our Innovative centers are where great people come together and deliver solutions that save and improve lives. 



We are seeking motivated talent interested in solving problems to improve tomorrow.



You will:



  • Join a new team focused on Application Security and Software Assurance.

  • Support and interface with application developers as a security practitioner.

  • Work across different business verticals and disciplines.

  • Act as point of contact for software security questions and support.

  • Assist with security and compliance projects on an ad-hoc basis.

  • Work directly with developers to remediate software vulnerabilities.



You will work and learn more about:



  • Pharmaceutical business and digital health software.

  • Software composition analysis and secure coding techniques.

  • Penetration testing analysis and remediation.

  • Coordinating the publication and adoption of secure development guidelines.

  • Training programs targeted to secure software development.

  • Working globally across our market and hub network.



Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in one of the following areas preferred:


    • Computer Science

    • Cybersecurity

    • Management/Computer Information Systems

    • Information Assurance 




Required Experience:



  • A minimum of three (3) years of software engineering experience with commercial software

  • A minimum of one (1) years of experience in software security

  • Understanding of software delivery lifecycle and accompanying technologies



Preferred Experience:



  • Demonstrated knowledge of application security including: 
    o Common Vulnerabilities (OWASP Top 10) 
    o Dynamic application security testing 
    o Static application security testing 
    o Application Security Architecture and Threat Modeling

  • Proficiency in cloud and mobile security concepts

  • Ongoing operations of threat modeling and/or penetration testing services

  • Experience with access management, cyber incidents, security products, and industry standards (e.g. NIST, ISO) preferred
