ob Summary

Farmers insurance Mobile team is looking for a senior backend engineer to help us take Farmers technology to the next level.

Essential Job Functions

• 
  
• You will set the tone, quality and culture for the backend team.
• 
  
• You will lead and mentor by example. Yes, you will code, document and set style guides so the team could refer to a “source of truth”.
• 
  
• You will develop new services that are part of Farmers roadmap.
• 
  
• You will advocate for performance and questioning the status quo.
• 
  
• You will carry the banner of security and PII compliance.
• 
  
• You will research new technologies that will extend your skills and the value that Farmers Insurance can offer to our customers.
• 
  
• You will collaborate with other team members, architects, business analysts and product owners.
• 
  

Physical Actions

Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 10 lbs. maximum, and seeing.

Physical Environment

Required job duties are normally performed in a climate controlled office environment.

Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required

Experience Requirements

• 
  
• 5+ years’ experience as a software developer.
• 
  
• Experience driving process improvement and mentoring a team.
• 
  
• You can demonstrate the reasoning and explain technical trade-offs
• 
  
• You must have experience developing services with Node.js
• 
  
• You should have experience with other scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Perl)
• 
  
• You must have knowledge of HTTP, REST and SOAP
• 
  
• You should be familiar with the industries best known methods (BKM) and explain why we should use X over Y.
• 
  
• Aptitude to solve problems
• 
  
• Knowledge of data schemes and databases
• 
  
• Experience with PaaS and MBaaS are a bonus
• 
  
• You should know how to instantiate an EC2 or deploy on Heroku
•
