As the Applications People Lead at Semios you will support and work with a team that oversees the applications that Semios provides growers to make data-driven decisions that enable efficient and environmentally sustainable practices. As the People Lead you will manage, coach, and lead a skilled and growing team. You will apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities. You possess a combination of leadership, technical, and team-building skills. You are collaborative, a true team player that recognizes that leadership is about enabling those around you to do great things.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with senior leaders, product management, project management and other team leads to shape the applications team strategy and priorities
- Manage, direct, grow and coach a skilled Applications team by
- Mentoring team members in problem-solving approaches, tools and best practices.
- Providing regular performance feedback to enable employee development and goal achievement
- Ensuring team delivery and focus is aligned with broader company strategy, goals and initiatives
- Leading recruitment activities to hire the best talent
- Demonstrating and reinforcing Semios values
- Implement and maintain best practices around documentation and development practices
- Participate in Applications Architecture design
- Partner with stakeholders to define and measure KPIs for the team
- Facilitate communication between teams and team members
- Ensure a high level of operational excellence for technology development stacks and tools
We want you to succeed, so you will need:
- 2+ years of people management experience in an Engineering team
- 5+ years of experience in software development
- 2+ years of professional experience with fullstack JavaScript
- Experience designing backend APIs (REST, GraphQL) OR building modern frontends (React)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A passion for staying up to date with best practices and technology trends.
- A willingness to consistently learn and grow.
- High level of comfort with ambiguity and autonomy, you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done and getting it done
Nice to have:
- Experience with agriculture or other similar biological data (i.e. enable analytics and products that leverage time series, geospatial, weather, yield, spray records, and other agricultural data).
- Experience building mobile applications (Android, React Native)
- Experience developing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP)
- Expertise with designing relational database schema (PostgreSQL)
- Experience with CI/CD
- Experience with Devops
