Introduction & Opportunity Context:
- redBus is the largest OTA in India in search volumes (with the exception of the monopolistic IRCTC). It is the pioneer in the online bus ticketing industry with a dominant market leadership.
- The Inventory team is responsible for ensuring that the core data pipeline is always available and strongly consistent along with enabling real time analytics for an awesome search and booking customer experience. We are looking for highly motivated engineers to be part of a team building a strongly consistent, highly scalable, available and fault tolerant e-commerce search platform from ground-up powering the next generation of use cases. The platform forms the backbone of redBus online business. The platform needs to support auto sharding, archiving and self healing in case of failure with zero downtime while handling millions of requests. A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in at least some of the following areas: algorithm development, building and scaling inventory platforms using distributed computing technologies such as search systems and data persistence using SQL, NoSQL or time-series databases.
Responsibilities :
1. Take the product/feature idea from conceptualization phase to delivery with all the relevant high quality artifacts during the cycle.
2. Use of metrics, data, and trend analysis in decision making.
Basic Qualifications :
1. Engineering Degree in Computer Science or any degree from an institute of repute with 3-6 years of development experience in a product firm.
2. Hands- on experience of developing large scale, distributed and fault tolerant applications.
3. Obsession with quality and customer experience.
4. Programming fundamentals and solid understanding and knowledge of at least one programming language.
5. Proficiency in implementation of algorithms and use of advanced data structures to solve problems in computing.
6. Ability to write clean, modular and loosely coupled code by the use of design patterns.
7. A solid foundation in principles of computer science is desired.
Skill Set:
1. Problem solving skills with Data structures, algorithms, and design patterns is a MUST
2. Familiarity in MySQL or any of the relational database management tools.
3. Exposure to any one of Application Servers.
4. Must have excellent debugging/troubleshooting skills.
5. Good problem solving and analytical skills.
6. Must enjoy working in a flexible/unstructured environment
Bonus Points If :
1. You are language-agnostic and will pick up a new technology at the drop of a hat.
2. You have contributed to any open-source project.
3. Strong experience in Erlang/OTP.
4. Experience in functional programming language like Elixir / Scala / Clojure / Haskell
