We are Common at Common Code is working in collaboration to help Phoria find an experienced Software Developer with Ruby on Rails, React, JavaScript, 3JS and WebGL experience to join their Caputr3d Development team. You’ll have the opportunity to work across the entire end to end product and software process from early stage research and ideas, to design implementation and iteration.

What you’ll be doing

• Work closely with our Founders, designers and customers to build solutions to our users’ problems and make key technical and design decisions. 


• Translate build requirements into web and mobile products that can be scaled out to thousands of users.


• Ensure the smooth running of the product, including securing customer data as we integrate with various other platforms and technologies. 


• Contribute and work with UX designs & flows, creating wireframes UX mockups / prototypes to articulate the desired experience.


• Work on PHORIA XR patented technology to develop AR solutions. 


• Analyse requirements, brainstorm solutions and educate the team about the philosophy behind your decisions.


• Help build and maintain the various platform back end and front end style and experience guide.


• Understand our business model and maintain relationships with key users; understand their goals and needs. 


• Support junior members of the development team and be a mentor to their development and progress. 


• Contribute to the overall conversation about long term product direction.

About you 

• +3 years of experience in Ruby


• A degree or equivalent in Computer Science  / Information Technology (Software Development)


• Experience with full stack development in rails.


• Strong experience with Javascript and React


• Experience with 3JS and WebGL


• Experience with AWS (Bonus: Elastic Beanstalk, SQS, Code Pipeline), Postgres, and equivalent 


• Test Driven Development: rspec, continuous integration and delivery.


• A subject matter expert in web development and user experience;


• The ability to work flexibly in a multidisciplinary and outsourced team across time zones while being self-directed with little supervision. 


• Owning the translation between product and technical specification.


• A strong interest in our company’s “Why” and core objective.


• Curiosity, empathy, excellent written and verbal skills and leadership / managerial experience. 

Skills, Technical tools, philosophies & buzzwords we like:

• Ruby on Rails


• Proficient with HTML, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, 3JS and WebGL 


• Knowledge of advanced JavaScript libraries and frameworks, such as React and Typescript.


• Used 3rd party API’s such as Google API’s , SendGrid, etc.


• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX


• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.


• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git / Subversion / Bitbucket
