We are looking for a talented, highly motivated leader for our Enterprise Networking Engineering team. As Facebook production network is one of the largest and most innovative networks in the world, we are looking for someone that can bring that level of innovation and automation to our corporate network, a very fast growing and highly diverse environment with wide variety of challenges ranging from locality to a highly mobile workforce or to an ever-increasing number of IoTs.Engineers on the team have backgrounds in network engineering, systems engineering and software development. They work alongside software engineers and network engineers to build and support provisioning systems, configuration management systems, and tools to maintain and operate our global network efficiently. Managing this team requires a unique skill set over a broad range of technologies in both the server and network fields, and a focus on growing and developing a highly skilled team. Creativity and adaptability are a must as you help drive towards the next evolution of network management. Responsibilities
- Be a highly technical Director with deep experience in networking, systems, and software
- Delivery of the entire corporate network for 160+ offices worldwide. The network has one of the largest mobile populations and is a highly diverse and complex, fast moving environment
- Hold your own in technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence
- Help define and drive regular development of an aggressive technical roadmap to meet the needs of the team, and partner teams
- Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapting quickly to new information and re-prioritizing as needed
- Manage engineers and managers working to build, scale, deploy and support network systems for our global network infrastructure
- Partner closely with Facebook infrastructure network engineering teams and other software infrastructure teams
- Influence decision making of overall network investments through exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Follows current trends, their impact on business strategies, and their implications for creating sustainable network development models
- Ability to travel internationally
- Be an effective people manager
- Help engineers and managers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
- Assess employee performance frequently, address under-performance, and recognize and promote excellent performance
- Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and onboarding new employees
- Communicate cross-functionally and drive engineering efforts
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years experience managing a networking or distributed engineering team
- Knowledge of networking and distributed systems
- Experience in network-wide analytics/design tools and/or control systems (SDN) for large-scale networks
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management and managing engineers
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals
- Interpersonal and communications experience
