The Senior Cloud Platform Engineer will work with Higher Logic's production operations as well as internal IT and is responsible for production and development cloud hosting for Higher Logic’s online community platform. This position requires the ability to work independently on multiple concurrent complex projects to deliver technical solutions, executing road maps and promotion of best practices. Success in this position is largely dependent on the ability to exhibit a high degree of technical skill in a 7x24x365 global production environment. This is a full time position with the DevOps Team.
Responsibilities
- Propose designs and solutions that meet operational, functional and security requirements
- Promote, mentor and facilitate best cloud practices within DevOps and Engineering
- Implement solutions in support of increasing developer velocity
- Execute core road map and critical path implementations
- Participate in capacity expansions, security updates and maintenance windows
- Monitor performance and health of cloud infrastructure
- Implement improvements based on analysis of monitoring tools (availability and security)
- Lead operations incident response
- Assist in creation, exercise and execution of disaster recovery plan
- Provide tier one on call technical support
- Communicate weekly status on all activities and initiatives
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science / MIS, or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Expert level in AWS configuration, operations and deployment
- Experience with AWS services: EC2, Opsworks, S3, KMS, SQS, SES, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, Lambda, EFS, Glacier, Kinesis, AWS Glue, Athena, Redshift
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional certification is a plus
- Experience with one or more of Chef/Puppet/Ansible/Terraform
- Experience with continuous software delivery pipelines and containers
- Proficiency with at least one high level language, C# preferred
- 4 years Windows/Linux administration experience
- Experience with Active Directory forest and ADFS
- Experience with Azure Active Directory Sync Service
- Knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, routing and security concepts
- Familiarity with database backup and recover (SQL Server and RDS)
- Familiarity with diagram tools, e.g. Visio or equivalent
