Our Engineers are the heart of ING. We solve some of the hardest problems. Constantly experimenting and improving both the way of working. You will be working within The Cards Domain. The department is working in a DevOps manner, where Scrum/Agile method and Continuous Delivery practices are very important. As an Ops Engineer you’ll be responsible for implementing new features: test and deploy and keeping our stack secure and operational. We release several times per week, but perhaps you can help us automating the pipeline even further?
Department
You will be working in the Tribe Betalen for Cards. We make and maintain all the IT systems for our Debit and Credit Cards. Our systems handle the transaction flow for 60% of the total Dutch payment traffic. We support international payment methods e.g. credit and debit and virtual cards for mobile phones.
Team
This vacancy is specifically for the Mobile Payments team, that focusses on the functionality for Mobile cards, enabling our customers to pay with virtual cards (Mastercard and VISA) on their phone. You will work as an OPS Engineer in a Scrum and DevOps team with 6-7 engineers. The team is responsible for the development and implementation of the Mobile Cards Management for the Cards Department of ING.
The Mobile cards are used by ING customers to download to their mobile phones into the payment app. The team is called Local Backend NL and uses JAVA, Oracle and Tibco services. The team is responsible for all activities of the software delivery lifecycle. Because the systems delivered by these teams are critical components of our strategic architecture, the reliability of our systems is extremely important. Therefore, we expect you to take responsibility within the team on ensuring high availability ratings.

Stack and tooling
In our stack, we use Angular JS, JAVA, Tibco, RESTFUL API’s, TOMCAT, NoSQL solutions like Cassandra, NGINX, AIX, Linux, Oracle and a bunch of other technologies. Our supporting technologies are a private cloud, Protractor, Graphite and the ELK stack. Although we would like that you have a working knowledge of everything we use, we find it important that we know you are flexible and keen on learning new stuff.
What will you be doing?
Deploy changes/releases and produce the deliverables/evidence required by several related processes (e.g. Risk, Change Control Board, yes!)
Automate deployments as part of continuous delivery.
Request and prepare network and firewall changes.
Test the performance of web-applications and apply tuning.
Define dependencies with other teams and translate these to user story’s.
Support risk procedures and processes of ING, because we’re a bank.
Configure and maintain application and chain monitoring like Graphite, Nagios etc.
Define and/or support chain, acceptance, performance, scalability and resilience testing

The must haves:
- You have at least three years of experience in Oracle, Linux, Tomcat
- You have experience in Shell scripting
- You have experience in Kibana, Graphite, Prometheus
- You know CD Tooling, like Ansible, Nolio, Docker, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
- You handle stress very well.
- You have strong analytical skills.
- You have experience in an Agile/Scrum/Dev/Ops team.
- You are a true team player.
- You speak up, are transparent and not shy to confront somebody.
- You speak English or Dutch.
Nice to haves:
- You have a little bit of knowledge of Java.
- You enjoy to come up with new tools and never stop learning.
