Full Stack Developer Learn Go & TypeScript at Countingup (London, UK)

Do you enjoy getting things done? Do you want to work on an industry-leading product whilst learning new tech like Golang?

Help fuel the financial revolution!

At Countingup, we’re on a mission to improve financial management for small business owners, centralising your current business account and accountancy requirements in one automated system. We put everything from invoicing to tax returns at your fingertips, whilst making your business fully prepared for HMRC going digital. We’re changing the face of finance for small businesses, leading our field, and gaining 17,000 customers in just over a year, with no signs (or intentions) of slowing down!

To achieve those results, we’ve pulled together a lightweight, modern stack that lets us deliver features quickly and resiliently. At the heart of that is Golang, which we use across our back-end; we love its opinionated ecosystem and tiny footprint, and think you will too. We are happy to fully support you as you get to grips with the nuances of the language. Backing that up is a variety of AWS services, including Aurora DB, Kinesis, and S3 (we’re far beyond the basics of compute, storage and networking), which are all managed through Terraform and Docker. At the front-end, we have a mixture of mobile-first React and TypeScript dashboards, alongside a React Native mobile app, whilst our fully automated testing pipeline allows us to deploy to production multiple times a day at the push of a button.

Work is divided amongst our small, cross-functional teams, with no distinctions made between front-end, back-end, or DevOps. Everyone is encouraged to work across the stack, from UI changes to configuring new AWS services, leaning on the expertise of your teammates to develop a diverse and fluid skillset.

Following several rounds of successful funding and with a roadmap chock full of new challenges and ideas, we are looking for a number of developers to join us. Our platform is real-time, highly complex, and there’s a huge amount of greenfield work, so if you’re up for the challenge we’d love to hear from you.

To really thrive as part of our team at Countingup, you will:

  • Have a good grasp on an OO back-end language; this could be Java, C++, C#, or Python, for example!

  • Test your own code rigorously

  • Understand concepts like concurrency

  • Truly believe in clean code principles and put this to practice

  • Love working across the full stack, with experience using a modern JavaScript framework such as React, Angular or Vue

  • Have an interest in being involved in the entire end-to-end software delivery life-cycle

  • Be excited to learn! We’ll help you get to grips with Golang and all the other technologies we use, but we’re still a small team so we need you to help drive your own development as well.

And what will you get in return?

  • We’ll guarantee that you’ll be constantly challenged, whilst being fully supported by great developers who you can learn from

  • Exposure to every area of the business; this is far from a corporate environment, so you’ll be encouraged to get involved and make an impact on how we work

  • Brand new equipment when you start

  • Share options after probation and an 8% pension scheme

  • 32 days holiday (inc. public holidays) with a flexible working from home policy

  • A great office in White City, with an extensive programme of talks and events available

  • And, of course, a fully competitive salary!!!

Have we got your attention? Then get in touch!
