Get paid to build games and apps that are being remixed and shared across the world!
Koji is a VC-backed platform that aims to make building and deploying web apps something that anyone can do.
We accomplish this by giving users templates that they can remix using visual customization controls. This allows anyone (even non-coders) to customize and publish their own version of a game or app that they like.
We're currently in the process of building up our library of remixable apps and games.
That's where you come in.
We're looking for skilled, full-stack javascript developers that can quickly build these remixable templates.
You'll be overseen by a creative manager, who will help guide the game and app ideas, ensure that they're remixable in meaningful ways, and aid you in maintaining the templates that you're adding to the platform.
Work environment
You'll be working primarily from our office in downtown San Diego. You're free to bring your own development tech and tools. Koji offers a cloud-based editor solution that anyone can use to build a game or app from start to finish, but you can also build your templates locally on your own computer/IDE.
Our team is small, our office is casual, but we are all dead set on making Koji's vision of democratizing software creation and distribution into a reality for millions of people.
If you're not on board with the vision, this probably won't be a good fit.
Opportunities for growth
As Koji continues to grow, we anticipate needing help in many additional areas, from internal infrastructure and operations, to developer community relations and education, to improving the tooling and editor experience for all of our users.
Job requirements
- Ability to build & maintain full-stack javascript applications
- Familiarity with git and version control
- Familiarity with npm (package creation and maintenance is a plus)
- Game dev experience (preferred but not required)
Next steps
It is strongly encouraged to take some time to explore our platform and understand how templates and remixing works before applying. Building remixable templates requires being able to think about software (and more importantly, people) in different, abstract ways. This position will challenge you to move beyond writing code to spec, and to actually build something meaningful.
If all of this makes sense, then we look forward to hearing from you =)
