Job Description

The Enterprise Solutions Architect is responsible for designing and maintaining the Functional (Business) and Technology (Application and Infrastructure) ecosystem for GTCC. This position supports the build-out of the Technology current state and future state by working with the CIO and other business technology teams and executives to align technology layers with the business functions and to communicate the technology capability maturity index.


Duties/Functions

Defines the enterprise IT design, enterprise integration, & enterprise adaptation strategies.
Maintains business and technology domain flow maps for all areas.
Provides blueprints to make a quick decision on Buy/Build/Lease with no or minimum friction around business processes and technology components.
Maintains Application and Infrastructure rationalization strategies and roadmap to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership.
Enables the organization with next generation of member-centric data analytics architecture and roadmap.
Engages Project Leads, Development Leads, Third-party Vendors and Support Leads for review/acceptance of architecture and standards.
Develops, maintains, and executes processes for enforcement of technology standards, policies, and procedures.
Reviews and approves the key project design by working with internal teams and external vendors.
Socializes ecosystem and provides communication and training.
Serves as technology advisor for critical projects.
Identifies opportunities in the technology landscape for continuous improvement.
Participates in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including project scope writing, testing, and debugging programs.
Directs and manages project development from initiation to conclusion.
Assists in developing standards and procedures for programming staff.
Assists and advises programming staff and analysts in developing solutions to software related problems.
Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentations, procedural documentation and presentations.
Proactively manages changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
Conducts project post reviews and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Provides progression planning and coaching of employees to ensure the ongoing success and development of the department.
Interviews candidates for open positions, as needed.
Assists in developing department budget and is responsible for adhering to fiscal guidelines.
Position may be assigned other duties as determined by the supervisor.

Education Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.


Education Preferred

Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.

Certifications
TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or other architecture principle certifications


Experience Required

Knowledge and experience in IoT, Cloud enablement for academic institutions, and digital technology architecture required
Digital technology simplification, modernization and enablement experience required
Experience with SaaS and PaaS platforms required
Experience with data management required
Must have fluidity with Reporting Services, Analysis Services, IIS and Active Directory (architecture, design, disaster recovery and troubleshooting)
Must have experience working with major product and services vendors and Academia (Infrastructure, Software, Services)
Must have experience using .Net, Java, UI/UX


Experience Preferred

5 + years Community College experience mainly Community College operations, technology, and business functions for the institution
2 + years management experience in an IT role preferred certifications
Experience with Agile methodology preferred


KSA Required

Minimum of 7 years of working knowledge in various areas of technology (applications, architecture development, IT operations, etc.)
Must have ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required
Must have proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Must have ability to make decisions and work independently
Must be able to evaluate systems and procedures, implementing efficiency enhancements
Must have ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Advanced technology/architecture/solution development knowledge in digital space required
Advanced knowledge with API platforms, Device Integration & Analytics required
Must have general knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and regulation
Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with ability to communicate professionally & effectively with all levels in the organization, including executive management
Must be adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
Must have ability to understand all business processes within the college
Must be detail oriented and well organized
Must be flexible and able to shift resources an priorities as required
Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision
Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to GTCC's customers
Ability and skill set for Program/Project management
Collaboration & Content management skills


KSA Preferred

7 + years of working knowledge in various areas of technology (applications, architecture development, IT operations, etc.)


Department/Job Specific Requirements

The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter:
