POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for a variety of tasks required to successfully complete medium to large enterprise projects and provide support of on-going initiatives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage multiple projects and support one or more programs at the same time
- Ability to execute essential responsibilities with minimal daily oversight
- Provide input into project management approach, tools, and best practices for IT Project Management
- Work with supervisor or Senior IT Project Manager to initiate projects
- Assist with the development of project charter and initial project plan
- Conduct kick-off meeting or similar to communicate project purpose to project team members, important stakeholders, and sponsors
- Manage project scope, project schedule, and project cost using appropriate verification techniques
- Develop and keep updated project charter and project plan
- Establish project deliverables and milestones
- Execute, monitor, and control change management processes
- Develop and clearly communicate project status and project plan to sponsors, project team, and supervisor
- Implement approved actions as required to mitigate project risk events in order to minimize negative project impacts and enhance positive project impacts
- Identify and document high level risks and constraints
- Manage and track potential risks and responses to risk events
- Communicate risk status to project team and sponsors
- Monitor and control project team members work while executing project plan to achieve the goals of the project
- Establish project deliverables including requirements, constraints, and assumptions (directly or by utilizing a business analyst resource)
- Manage project team to perform project tasks and track status
- Implement project plan while resolving or escalating issues in a timely fashion
- Lead and / or facilitate team and client / sponsor meetings
- Support programs / initiatives
- Support end users and sponsors in managing or utilizing programs / initiatives
- Direct the maintenance of program information (for example tracking program implementation, documentation, contracts, etc.)
- Effectively communicate relevant project information to project team, sponsors, and superiors including but not limited to project status, risks, requirements, and project plan
- Provide project team training
- Assist project team members with understanding the rationale behind decisions with the goal of making them more effective as a team in current and future projects
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two (2) years previous project management experience.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and percentages.
Language Skills:
Ability to understand, read, write and speak English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to successfully write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions and professionally interact with managers, employees, clients, vendors and the general public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and correct errors. Ability to understand and interpret basic financial data. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of forms and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Other Qualifications:
Must be able to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner. Must be able to work well with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Must be detail oriented and organized. High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information. Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as approved in advance.
