Cloud Engineer at Coolblue (Rotterdam, Netherlands)

As a cloud engineer you bring Coolblue's cloud platform to the next level by making sure it's easy to deploy and maintain, while also building new services.

Pros and cons

  • + You maintain and standardize our deployment pipelines, so the developers can release their applications smoothly and reliably.
  • + You make it easy for development teams to create their infrastructure as code for our AWS cloud environment.
  • + You will enable and empower developers to follow best practices while deploying their applications.
  • + You automate recurring tasks to make your job (and that of the developers) easier.
  • - You need to keep up with the latest news for the pubquiz.

Description

You start the day with the stand-up and together with your teammates you make a plan for the next 24 hours. After that, its time to grab some coffee and get your brain pumping to refine and brainstorm user stories that will improve the Cloud Platform and Developer Experience. You pair up with a teammate to create new extension points for CloudFormation resources to support automation around the platform. Phew, its lunch time ready to grab some fresh food from the Coolblue canteen!

After lunch, two developers join the room asking for advice on how their new application can make use of DynamoDB auto-scaling and how to architect a serverless stack. You join the discussion and give them pointers of how to achieve this.

Later, you pick up a story about improving the automation around CI/CD pipelines. You pivot the solution together with two development teams to accelerate and optimize the speed and quality of deployments.

Your specifications

  • You believe in configuration management - if its not managed, its not real.
  • You automate all the things from bootstrap to backup.
  • You have some experience working with any cloud environment, preferably AWS.
  • You get bonus points if you have experience working with Scrum.

Included by default
