The Storage System Quality Engineering team within Apples Core OS organization is looking to hire a talented Software Quality Engineer Tech Lead. The right candidate will use their understanding of testing SSD firmware on systems to help drive the validation engineering team. Responsibilities will include working cross functionally to drive and facilitate decisions of quality and ok to ship. The role will also include hands-on triaging of failures and overseeing white box testing. Other targeted areas will be to improve test metrics, establish baseline testing, and provide sign off. Additionally, contribution to test plans, test tool development, debug of scripts, and improvement of infrastructure for SSD firmware test rack operation and optimization is expected. Working collaboratively with the software, hardware, and firmware development and test teams to gain an understanding of our projects and their requirements is expected.
Key Qualifications:
Understand how Operating Systems use storage
Experience with software management of flash and other non-volatile storage technologies
Proven test methodology driving best practices
Attention to details as our work can affect stored data
Experience with storage testing
Programming with C, Python, Bash to development tools
Areas that would be beneficial to the role would be:
Understanding of testing fragmentation and SSD endurance
Ability to implement User Scenarios
Experience with Workload Analysis under Power Management conditions
Experience with Endurance qualification
Description:
Testing firmware in a broad development environment across all Apple products
Analyzing system performance with a focus on customer experience
Driving solutions and debugging low level software and hardware issues with cross-functional teams
Focusing on integration of Storage and File Systems with 1st and 3rd party applications
Education:
BS in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience/skills
