As a generalist Infrastructure Engineer, you will be orchestrating and managing system resources that power the product. Ideally you are able to build, administer, monitor and automate a small to mid scale system, with intuition for the next steps to scale.
You should have experience in provisioning and deploying on either AWS, GCP or Azure, using tools like Terraform or Ansible to apply infrastructure as code. Knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus.
You should have good intuition for the following:
- Database choices (e.g. Relational vs NoSQL), basic data management as part of service configuration and design
- CI/CD pipelines and setup
- Operationalizing monitoring and logging for end to end visibility
You should be able to contribute to system architecture design, with sensitivity to maintainability, reliability, testability, safety, etc.
You have strong responsibility over the operational health of the system.
