Summary


The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an Engineering Manager to help us build apps that enable our communities to achieve our Vision: a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.  Engineering Managers at Wikipedia support engineers who build features and products used by people around the world. This is an opportunity to do good while having a high level of impact at a large-scale media property.  You will join the Audiences department, where we build experiences for learning through Wikipedia content.

Responsibilities:



  • Coach engineers in being effective at meeting their goals

  • Develop goals and track progress publicly and collaboratively

  • Represent team members within the organization and publicly

  • Coordinate with other teams and departments

  • Support your team members to develop their career paths

  • Recruit and hire new team members


Requirements:



  • BS in Computer Science or other relevant technical field or the equivalent in work experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in mobile apps

  • Experience supervising software engineering teams

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Passion for high fidelity native app experiences


Pluses:



  • Experience working with a geographically distributed software engineering team

  • Experience with open source software development

  • 3+ years of experience working in agile software development environments

  • Experience with service based architecture
